Public Works Information

The Department of Public Works is responsible for the construction and maintenance of all Township-owned infrastructure and facilities within the Township of Hampton and for providing a wide range of related services.

Residential Brush Chipping Information

Begins the first Tuesday in April and last chipping is 1st Tuesday in October

The safety of our employees is of utmost importance, and this is why these regulations MUST be followed.  Brush chipping is very dangerous, and our employees are required to take every precaution to prevent injury.  Please help them avoid a dangerous situation.

  • This service is not provided for condo associations, commercial properties or businesses.
  • Chipping will begin on the 1st Tuesday of every month. (Weather permitting and Township emergencies take priority).
  • Brush MUST be out before the 1st Tuesday of the month
  • Brush Chipping service is intended only for pruning, thinning and trimming of trees, shrubs and bushes.
  • This service is not a tree removal service therefore, brush left after a commercial tree service will not be picked up.
  • The route may change each month.
  • Brush not put out in time will be left for the following month.
  • There is no list that you need to be put on.
  • 5 minutes MAXIMUM per location.
  • Brush needs to be baler twined into bundles (no larger than an armful).
  • Brush minimum length is 12 inches and no longer than 5 foot in length maximum.
  • Nothing larger than 4 inches in diameter.
  • Sticks and small debris will not be chipped and need to be put in yard waste bags or containers for Wednesday, Republic Services Yard Waste Collection.
  • Stacked neatly with all ends facing the road.
  • Vines, stumps & root balls can’t be run through chipper and will be refused.
  • No thorn material, vines or intertwined branches will be accepted.

PLEASE NOTE: Any brush that is generated from the removal of a tree or a substantial portion of a tree, either by a resident or a hired tree service, will not be chipped.  This service is not intended to compete with or take services away from the private business sector.  This service is not a township mandated service and is strictly intended for pruning, thinning and trimming of trees, shrubs and bushes.
